Having grown up on jazz, Motown and gospel, vocalists Tonya Kelly, Joi Marshall and Di Reed – known collectively as Jade – could make just about anything sound good. It also helped that the R&B trio’s 1992 debut, Jade To The Max, had top-notch production and material to work with as well. Hitmaker/mentor Vassal Benford penned nearly half of the eleven songs here with co-producer Ron Spearman. The full length boasts four singles hitting the Top 100 – “I Wanna Love You” ( 16), “Don’t Walk Away” (4), “One Woman” (22), and “Looking for Mr. Do Right” (69) and went on to be certified Platinum.
For Record Store Day 2026, Jade To The Max sees its first ever vinyl pressing in the US – appropriately on a Jade colored vinyl run.
