Originally released in 1961 and also known as Swing Low, this is the sixth album by Sam Cooke, one of the great artists in the so called sweet-soul-music of the ’60s and a relevant voice in the Civil Rights Movement. The album includes “Chain Gang” one of Cooke’s greatest hits, plus a timeless rendition of “Swing Low Sweet Chariot” one of the most beautiful devotional tunes in the Afro-American spiritual tradition.
